Serverrules
Cheating
Cheating is defined as manipulating the game code to gain an
unfair advantage over other players. This includes the use of
map bugs and exploits. If you are caught cheating on our servers,
or if cheats are detected on your computer, you will be banned
on sight without warning. The Serverpolice reserves the right to
scan your hard drive for installed cheats when you use our
servers. If you do not agree to this then you should not attempt
to connect to any of our servers. The Serverpolice has a zero
tolerance policy for cheating and once you are banned you will
not be unbanned.
Modifications
Using modifications on the server causes severe performance
degradation, sometimes causing it to crash. As a result we have
a zero tolerance policy on all modification usage. Please ensure
you have no mods running when you attempt to connect to the
server. The only Mod permitted on our servers is Crossfire 1.7.
Offensive Player Names
There is no need to use offensive player names other than to be
offensive towards others, offensive names will result in your
being banned from our servers. Names that are intended to cause
disruption are also disallowed. If you use any names that we
consider to be inappropriate you will be removed from our
servers.
Racism
If you are caught making racist comments on our servers then we
will ban you from our servers. We have a zero tolerance policy.
Racism is not a joking matter, and we take it very seriously.
Crashing Servers
Deliberate interference in the running of servers, by using bugs
to crash them or exploits is a very serious offence and we will
not hesitate to ban you from our servers.
Insults
No insults on other players. Insulting is not a joking matter,
and we take it very seriously.
IRC, E-mail and Forums
Our rules concerning abuse extend to other forms of
communication including IRC, e-mail and the forums. Our admins
put in a lot of effort to keep these servers running smoothly;
they should not have to tolerate abuse in any form whatsoever.
If you abuse one of our public server admins on IRC, using
e-mail or on our forums, you will be banned from our servers.
Flooding
We will not tolerate flooding on our servers, if you have
something to say then say it once only. If you are seen doing
any form of flooding you will be kicked and possibly banned.
Downloading Whilst Playing
Do not connect to our servers to play a game whilst you are
downloading at a rate that will interrupt your connection, it is
inconsiderate to the players around you who are unable to hit
you properly. Any players showing a high or fluctuating ping
similar to that of someone downloading will be removed from the
server. Players who have network problems which cause a similar
effect should also please consider the other players, although
we appreciate that this is not directly your fault, you still
choose to ruin the game for the people around you if you connect
to our servers.
Idling
Idling for long periods of time is highly inconsiderate and
prevents other players from joining hence we will remove anyone
we see idling on our servers.
Clan Tags
Unless you are in the actual clan, use your clantags. You risk
being banned from the server if you choose to ignore this rule
or if you use clantags without permission of the clans.
Bans
When you are banned from the server you may take the matter up
with one of the head Freelancer admins in IRC or by e-mail. If
you choose to use IRC as a means of communication please abide
by our IRC guidelines or you may find yourself being banned from
the channel. Forum posts and any other means of contact will be
ignored and/or deleted if its proven that one of the serverrules
got broken. If you attempt to evade the ban and we find you on
our servers, you will be banned again and possibly banned
additionally by IP address. If you still persist to evade the
ban then we may take the matter up with your ISP.
IRC/Forum Guidelines
When you need help with a Freelancer related problem, then the
IRC channel or the Forum is a good way to get a quick response.
Admins are people that are opped in this channel, and although
we try to help everyone as quickly as possible there are times
when we are dealing with other problems or simply away - so
please be patient.
You may be able to attract the attention of the admins by typing
!admin however, please do not abuse the admin beeper or you may
be banned from the channel. The admin beeper is for urgent
matters such as cheaters or disruptive players on the server.
Please do not spam or use excessive caps, we're not blind and
spamming will just get you banned from the channel.
State your problem clearly and politely - swearing at admins
will not make them work any faster. Please make sure you read
the server rules first as this may explain why you have been
banned.
The Serverpolice does not condone any illegal activity and
discussion of any illegal activity will result in you being
banned from the channel.
Admin Decisions
Once an admin takes action against a player on a server, whether
it be a warning, a kick or even a ban, that decision is final
and not for the remaining players to question. Players who abuse
admins will simply be removed from the server. The admins are
there to enforce the rules, whether you like the rules or not.
No PvP in New York
Players are not allowed to attack other players in the New York system under any circumstances. This is to give new
players a chance to learn the game in relative safety. If you
are caught attacking other players in this area you will be
kicked and possibly banned from the server.
No Spawn Killing
You are not allowed to attack players as they undock. Players
often have no chance of escape and can be killed repeatedly,
which eventually forces them to leave the server. It is
considered a flaw in the overall design of Freelancer and anyone
engaged in such an activity will be banned on sight.
Clansystems
Clans will have the right to buy own systems. These clans will
have the right to set own rules for their systems. This means if
they want to Spawnkill in their system then they are allowed to.
The Systemrules can be found on the Crossfire Forum.
A Final Word
The ability to play on our public servers is a privilege, not a
right, and as such can be revoked at any time whether temporary
or permanent. We will not let the minority ruin it for the
majority.
The Serverpolice reserve the right to remove players from their
servers without prior warnings, although where applicable a
warning will be given.
These rules are subject to additions and/or amendments at any
time and without prior notice. The decisions of the head admins
are final on all matters. We reserve the right to deviate from
the above rules at any time to resolve an existing or potential
problem. Your acceptance of these rules is indicated by your use
of the servers.
